Two Rivers of Marlborough takes its name from the iconic rivers that feed Marlborough’s Wairau and Awatere Valleys. Owner and winemaker, David Clouston grew up in Marlborough, and spent his youth in the hills and plains of the Wairau and Awatere Rivers Valleys, where his family have farmed for five generations.
Energetic, young and talented, his experience – hard-earned over 25 vintages worldwide – is the driving force behind Two Rivers. David aims to capture and emphasise Marlborough’s intense power, while producing complex, elegant wines with a slight European flair.
2016 Clos des Pierres Chardonnay
Bright yellow in colour, the bouquet offers aromas of lemon balm and vanilla bean mingled with fresh hazelnuts and butterscotch. On the palate the wine is tightly knit, opening up to layers of lemon zest, tea tree, rosemary and marmalade, over toasted pine nut, buttermilk and flinty flavours. The artisan winemaking approach has resulted in a delicious wine, showing great complexity and underlying old vine minerality.
2016 Convergence Sauvignon Blanc
Bright straw with golden/green hues, this Sauvignon Blanc has an abundance of blackcurrant, white peach and chalky aromas with hints of elderflower, green fig and lily. The palate has great concentration yet displays poise and elegance – dry and refreshing with persistent flavours of mandarin peel and grapefruit pith, a touch of nettle leaf on the finish and mouthwatering acidity.
2017 Isle of Beauty Rosé
Be one of the first to try this exquisite wine, matured just in time for the evening. Light salmon pink in colour, this Mediterranean style Rosé has aromas of watermelon, lemon balm and florals. The palate is dry and mouth-watering, exuding fleshy tangelo and zesty flavours with a touch of peppercorn and lovely minerality on the finish.
2014 Altitude Pinot Noir
Altitude Pinot Noir is the pinnacle of the Two Rivers range. A rich, full-bodied pinot noir, bursting with succulent boysenberry and blue fruit. The wine was aged in 40% new oak, giving smoky, savoury flavours. Aromas of deep and layered vanilla bean, mingled with violet and boysenberry. In pursuit of the highest quality, the wine is unfined and unfiltered.
